Great Events in Goodland: Kicking Off Summer Fun!

Summer is right around the corner, and Goodland is gearing up for a season packed with music, food, family fun, and community spirit. Whether you’re a longtime local or planning a visit, there’s no better time to explore everything our town has to offer. Here’s a look at some of the great events launching the summer season in Goodland.

 

Park N Play Returns to Chambers Park

Our first Park N Play event of the summer kicks off on June 12th, featuring live music from Aaron & Bree. Bring your lawn chairs, grab a shady spot, and enjoy an evening of great tunes in one of Goodland’s favorite gathering places.

To make the night even better, we’re pairing it with Food Truck Friday—so come hungry and ready to grab some delicious bites from local and visiting vendors. Stay tuned for the full lineup of trucks rolling into town.

 

Movie in the Park

Filthy Fizz, Amazing Candy Clouds, and The Cooking Mouse are teaming up to bring a free movie night in the park—a perfect way to unwind under the summer sky. Pack your blankets and folding chairs, grab some grub and sweet treats, and enjoy a relaxing evening with family and friends. Note: Weather may cause postponements, so keep an eye on their Facebook pages for updates.

Hwy 24 Garage Sales — June 5–7

A beloved regional tradition, the Hwy 24 Garage Sales stretch across communities and offer a treasure‑hunting adventure for all ages. Host a sale or hunt for treasures, there’s something for everyone!  The deadline for registration is May 29th.

Park ‘N’ Play — July 24

If you can’t make the June concert, the July Park ‘N’ Play offers another chance to enjoy live music, food trucks, and a relaxed evening in Chambers Park—featuring The Platinum Pearls.

Shindig at the Smoky — June 27

Head out to Smoky Gardens for live music, food trucks, fishing, and a festive summer atmosphere—featuring the Devon Worley Band. It’s the perfect setting for families and friends to gather and enjoy the outdoors.

Back 2 School Bash — August 14

Celebrate the end of summer with live music, free BBQ, and fun activities at Steever Park—featuring the Josh Holland Band. A great way to bring the community together before school starts.

Runway Revelry — August 22

Enjoy a free pancake breakfast from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM MT and explore a variety of aircraft on display at the Goodland Municipal Airport. More activities to be announced soon! A unique event for aviation fans and families alike.

Goodland Freedom Festival — July 4

Celebrate Independence Day at the Sherman County Fairgrounds with food vendors, carnival rides, music, and a spectacular fireworks show. A full evening of patriotic fun for all ages.

Northwest Kansas District Free Fair — Late Summer

A regional favorite featuring exhibits, a home-owned carnival, entertainment, food, livestock shows, and classic fair fun. A highlight of the season for families across northwest Kansas.

 

Looking Ahead: Flatlanders Fall Festival

As summer winds down, Goodland gears up for one of its biggest annual traditions—the Flatlanders Fall Festival, held the last full weekend of September. With a car show, motorcycle show, vendor fair, games, food, and live music, it’s a celebration that brings the entire community together and draws visitors from across the region. Mark your calendar now—this is one event you won’t want to miss.
