The Sherman Theatre opened on August 2, 1926, as a silent movie/vaudeville theatre. In its ninety-plus years, it has undergone many changes, advancing with upgrades in technology through the decades.

BIG EASEL

Blooming Brightly in Western Kansas in the spring of 2001, the “World’s Largest Painting on an Easel” was erected in Pioneer Park in Goodland, Kansas. The 24 x 32-foot painting is a reproduction of Vincent Van Gogh’s Three Sunflowers in a Vase.

SOLDIERS MEMORIAL PARK - SMOKY GARDENS

Provide an educational, entertaining, and welcoming environment that ignites a passion for the outdoors and gives thanks to those that served our country. Enjoy fishing, walking the trails, spending time outdoors, and frisbee golf. 

This is a county park, so no park passes are required. There are 15 RV hookups with electricity and water that are $20 a night and there are self-pay stations for the campgrounds. It is first-come, there are no reservations. You may dry camp anywhere at the park for no charge, but if you want to leave a donation at the self-pay stations you may.
Fishing Licenses are required. There is NO swimming, but you may boat, life jackets are required. No gas motors.
When a county-wide burn ban is on, there can be NO wood fires. You may use charcoal or propane.

Kidder Massacre Site
KIDDER MASSACRE SITE

Two years after the Civil War ended, war came to Sherman County. Sometime around July 2, 1867, 25-year-old Lt. Lyman S. Kidder and his 10-man patrol, along with a Sioux Indian scout, Red Bead, were massacred in northeastern Sherman County. Their deaths were the first recorded event in Sherman County.
